Implementation of a Data and Computer Security Application

Abstract

With the recent surge in computerisation by organizations and acquisition of personal computers by individuals, and with advancements in information access through various wired and wireless technologies, computer, personal, and corporate data security has become a challenge to contend with. Users, who are constantly connecting either to a local network or the internet, desire a situation whereby their information is kept secret and secured. The current security application utilities leave users with the risk of having their personal information being hacked into or cracked illegally. This paper presents a report on the development of a strong file and data security application software using several data security techniques and approaches which are considered highly reliable. Those presented here include data splitting, data encryption and hashing methods. The application was tested and the results presented
